Dem Iordache was born in 1905, in Drăguşeni, Galaţi, and died in 1982, in Bucharest.

In 1926, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1926. In the tradition of young Belle Art graduates up to that time, which was also maintained in the interwar period, Iordache went to study in France, and ended up taking lessons in Paris from Andre Lhote and Pascin.

"Dem Iordache was influenced by the post-impressionist color application techniques and, moreover, he acquired a new color spectrum, approaching that of the Fauvists. Even if the assimilation of post-impressionist influences was registered on a theoretical level, the way in which he absorbed and integrated them into his own creation gave his style originality. In front of the landscape, Dem Iordache externalizes the same feelings that we find in Nicolae Dărăscu (1883–1959) or Lucian Grigorescu (1894–1965). Ana Florescu
