He was born in 1873, in Macedonia. He is the typical and original representative of the symbolist current in Romania. He studied in Munich, starting in 1890 becoming a follower of Munich symbolism (Böcklin). It enjoyed great success. Came to Romania and exhibited at the Artistic Youth and the Official Salons. Kimon Loghi makes the mutual connection, the osmosis between literature and painting different from the usual romanticism of that time. His works with Fairies, Greek Women at the Fountain, Ballads, Idylls, The Lake Fairy, The Little Faun and similar, favorite paintings of the artist, show his original orientation.
His success was unexpected. Mythological subjects, legends, fables, subjective and sometimes fabulous impressions, along with romantic landscapes with lakes and moonlit nights, large portraits with colored or decorative backgrounds abound in his creation, being intensely requested by the public.
He was a talented artist, an excellent painting technician, of great vitality and activity in the path of modernizing the arts.
His statement begins in 1899. Some paintings are conceived theatrically, but they are pleasing as they are well executed.
In 1904 he had a personal exhibition with 120 paintings, works that completed his success, being praised and compared to Franz von Stuck and Gustav Klimt. After this exhibition, the technique used begins to bring too much with impressionist painting, because of which his success diminishes, sometimes being criticized exaggeratedly and unfairly. He died in 1952.
