BIA- Ioan Alexandru Boanchiș (1938-2022)
About a great intellectual among painters and a painter among the race intellectuals of the era!
This is how I would define my encounter with the work of the painter Ioan Alexandru Boanchiş (1938-2022)!
Important people of Romanian culture have written about his painting over time: Fănuş Neagu, Marin Sorescu, Constantin Prut, Dan Grigorescu, C.R. Constantinescu, Mircea Micu, etc. He was born in 1938 in Şilindia commune, Arad county (where one of the largest hoards in the country was discovered, approx. 800 silver coins) and graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry within the IMF Bucharest in 1965.
The chosen specialty - dentistry - did not prevent him from doing only medical incisions! He studied free painting with Mihai Bandac, Aurel Nedel, Traian Brădean. But his soul remained closest to his good friend and mentor, Alexandru Ciucurencu. Several visits and discussions about art followed in the workshops of Ion Pacea, Alin Gheorghiu, Ion Bitan or Viorel Mărginean. And the fruits have not stopped appearing: since 1977, he has participated in the Municipal Salons of Painting and Sculpture, in republican exhibitions, in painting biennials, etc. In 1981, he became a member of the Union of Visual Artists.
He opens an important series of personal exhibitions (between 1978-1993, all the works presented in the exhibitions were sold), participates in group exhibitions, and his works are in state and private collections in Romania, Austria, France, Italy, Belgium, USA, etc.
His passion and dedication to art does not prevent him from selflessly and devotedly pursuing his first passion, that of a dentist. In 1967, he becomes head doctor of the "Drumul Taberei" Polyclinic, receives his doctorate in medical sciences, the thesis containing 4 invention patents, with which he participates in the National Salon of Inventions in Bucharest and the Salon of Inventions in Milan, both participations being crowned with prizes.
